Looking back at 2019 at Harmony

July 14, 2023

2019 was a huge year for our community, from construction on new parks, welcoming new residents and hosting some big local events.

Most notably, we reached two very important resident milestones – welcoming the 300th and 500th families moving into our community. With more than 100 homes currently under construction, we will soon be welcoming the 1,000th family into Harmony community.

In addition to new homes under construction, the year also saw construction start and rapidly progress on the second phase of Harmony’s Grand Linear Park, which will include a new playground designed specifically for toddlers and young children.

AVID General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said he was excited to see the park take shape and is looking forward to officially opening the new park later this year.

“The second phase of the linear park will ensure that even our youngest residents and families have access to active play areas that challenge their imagination,” Mr Harper said.

“The new year will also bring a hive of activity with many homes due for completion in the next few months and a number of exciting community events planned for the year ahead.”

“We look forward to growing our community and welcoming more residents this year – Harmony would not be what it is without its residents, so I would like to thank the entire community for a great 2019 and here’s to an even better 2020!”

COMMUNITY EVENTS AT HARMONY IN 2019

In celebration of our growing community, we held a variety of events for our residents and the broader Sunshine Coast community, including Harmony’s signature Long Table Dinner event – a welcome dinner for new residents, Harmony Nights – a community evening held multiple times throughout the year with food trucks and live entertainment, and the return of Horizon Festival at Harmony – a series of performances by Flipside Circus’ Revolve. 2019 saw Harmony also hold a number of other community events, including:
• Harmony’s Christmas movie night
• Harmony’s Easter Night
• International Men’s Day afternoon
• International Women’s Day high tea

HARMONY’S 2019 COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIPS

In 2019, Harmony also launched its Community Sponsorship and Grants Program – a dedicated program to help support local initiatives at a grassroots level as well as community partnerships in and around Harmony.

Giving back to the community is important to everyone here at Harmony and during the year Harmony was able to support a number of local community programs, businesses and sporting clubs, including:
• Chancellor State College’s Chaplaincy Program and Chappy’s breakfasts
• Horizon Festival
• Maroochydore State Emergency Service (SES)
• Montessori International College’s Imagineers Festival
• Sunshine Coast Cricket Association (SCCA)
• Sunshine Coast Lightning
• Sunshine Sign and Sing
• Take 3 for the Sea
• The Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s Build it for the Kids project
• University of the Sunshine Coast’s Concert series

AVID General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said sponsorships played an important role in shaping a community, and he was thrilled that Harmony could support so many incredible programs and businesses in 2019.

“We were overwhelmed by the high calibre of applications we received in 2019, all offering a wide variety of community initiatives and activities – ranging from the arts, to sport and even STEM learning, all designed to help our community grow,” Mr Harper said.
