Harmony Community Sponsorship and Grants recipients announced!

We are thrilled to share our six successful applicants and their plans for the year ahead.

For 2019, we had two categories of community grants available, each designed to foster local community groups and create lasting connections within our vibrant Harmony community – Activate and Connect.

Activate grants will support local initiatives at a grassroots level within Harmony.

Samantha Taylor – Architect – project Fort Awesome
project Fort Awesome will run a series of ‘garden-cloud’ making workshops, where participants will be able to build their own (take-home) woven-bamboo cubby house. The workshops will teach new skills while providing an opportunity for neighbours and families to undertake a shared project together.

Sunshine Coast Cricket Association (SCCA)
The SCCA is encouraging players of all ages to join cricket to support collaboration, maintain a healthy lifestyle and have fun working as one team. The new ‘Come and Try Kits’ will help support participation to be part of a growing, collaborative, and friendly Association.

Sunshine Sign and Sing
Sunshine Sign and Sing is a baby and toddler group that aims to assist and enhance communication with children and their carers through sign language using songs and stories.

Connect grants will help create lasting community partnerships and connections in and around the wider Harmony community.

Chancellor State College
Chancellor State College is looking to build a space dedicated to its Chaplaincy Services – Chancellor Community Connect Hub. The creation of this community space will provide a sustainable location for a number of their people-centred support services.

The space will also be used for their bike refurbishment program, their mentoring and leadership programs for at-risk students as well as their English practice classes for local migrant families.

Maroochydore State Emergency Service (SES)
The local SES will be installing hydraulic ladder loaders on their two response vehicles. These will help to safely remove and reload the extension ladders when responding to emergency callouts, reducing the chance of injury for their members and volunteers.

University of the Sunshine Coast
From February to November next year, USC will host a series of free Music @ USC Harmony Concerts for the community to enjoy live performances from talented USC music students.

The concerts will feature both USC high-performance music students and USC emerging musicians. Students will perform acoustic versions of their original songs as well as covers of crowd favourites.

Sponsorships and grants play an important role in shaping a community, and our range of grants are designed to help our Harmony community thrive – now and into the future.
