Next Phase of ‘massive’ linear park opening soon

July 14, 2023

AVID Property Group’s Harmony development will soon open the second phase of its massive Grand Linear Park, designed to be a perfect place for the growing community’s youngest residents.

The park, which opened its first phase in August last year, will span more than five hectares and run the length of 10 football fields once complete.

The next one-hectare phase, which is set to open in January 2020, has just kicked off construction and promises to be just as popular with Harmony locals, incorporating a playground designed specifically for toddlers and young children.

AVID general manager Queensland, Bruce Harper, said the developer recognised the need for great spaces where the young and growing community could play and explore.

“We are excited to kick off construction on the next phase of our Grand Linear Park and can’t wait to see residents and locals enjoying the space which we have specifically designed for toddlers and young children,” Mr Harper said.

“It really is a park for young families, with playgrounds, beautiful greenery, open lawns and places to relax and watch the kids have a great time.”

More than 500 families now call Harmony home, driving the demand for park amenities to be fast-tracked for the diverse community.

“Here at AVID, we believe that planning and delivering parks early so that they are the heart of the community – rather than an afterthought – is just one of the ways that helps create happy, healthy communities,” Mr Harper said.

“We are delivering the next phase of our park ahead of schedule to meet the needs of our community as it grows.”

The one-hectare phase will feature a range of innovative play equipment including a treehouse, elevated connected walkways, a slide and a climbing tower, all designed to encourage active play.

“It’s so important that kids have a place to play close to home, and parks like this provide the opportunity for new experiences and new friendships,” Mr Harper said.

“Our Grand Linear Park is already the heart of our community with residents visiting it every day – to play, exercise, relax and to meet their neighbours, so we are really pleased to be expanding this central hub for our residents.”

The Grand Linear Park is ultimately a series of diverse parks equipped with unique facilities and identities, forming a central corridor of open green space and acting as a visual and physical “green spine” connecting the neighbourhood.

The configuration and design of Harmony ensures that 90 per cent of Harmony residents live within 250m of a park and that each neighbourhood is connected to the development’s 60km network of pedestrian path and cycle ways.
